    The award was presented at the grand event “Goalfest Conclave 2024” on 20th August, 2024 at ITC Maratha.

    • UNICEF India ‘Parliamentarians’ Group for Children’ (PGC) award in recognition of his role in Parliament in advancing the rights of children in India. He was recognised for his “exceptional work” in initiating two debates and seven questions on matters of Right to Education, protection of children from atrocities, malnutrition and child health in Parliament in 2018-19, UNICEF India said.

    Short Introduction

    • Arvind Sawant is well-known as leader accessible to masses 24×7, his vision being reflected with the development work he undertakes for constituency, his concern for people from various cadres, which is the reason being popularly referred as ‘Aapala Manus’, good orator. His scholarly speeches reflect his detailed analysis of the issue under concern and intellectual suggestions. His speeches in parliament over various issues in country are remarkable and his comments regarding the policy decisions are noteworthy. His works ranging from garden beautification to a state-of-the-art cardiac ambulance for the Sir J J Group of hospitals. The works include providing funds for gymnasiums, computers to schools and colleges and motorbikes to persons with physical disabilities, environment friendly carry bags to support ‘Ban Plastic’ movement and so on.

    • Strongly follows the principle laid by Shivsenapramukh at the time of Shivsena foundation i.e. 80% Social work and 20% Politics.
    • Arranged and participated in no. of drives of Blood Donation, Eye Donation & Free Tuition Classes, Job fair etc. over the decades.
    • Worked in his earlier days as a Teacher/Tutor in the classes run by late Principal Vamanrao Mahadik, Shivsena MLA from to the students of financially weak families.
    • Sports activities – fascination of Cricket. Played Times Shield and other Cricket tournament, Lawn Tennis, Kabaddi, Carom & Kho – Kho etc.
    • Music – listening of old Hindi/Marathi songs especially songs of Mohammad Rafi, Lata Mangeshkar & Asha Mangeshkar.
    • Drama – Fond of dramas, Acted in Drama in the Inter University competition and then Bombay Telephones. During College education period, actively participated in Art Fields with the subject related to Marathi community. Arranged many programme through Marathi Literature Institutes.
    • Worked for Ganeshotsav Mandals. President of Sewri Ganeshotsav Mandal. During its Silver Jubilee year, arrangement of stage management was executed in skillful manner, with Marathi cultural programme such as Bhajans etc. It’s procession on the emersion day was arranged with different artistic scenes & activities.  Noted and acclaimed by BBC News Channel.
    • Chairman of Shankar Mahadeo Sawant Gramvikas Institute of Kumbhawde, Kankavli in Sindhudurg District. Provided educational/financial help and guidance to the students. Extended co-operation & provided guidance for running Hostel (Girls & Boys) of the said institute. The Students of the institute succeeded in getting 100% results in SSC Examination for more than a decade.

    Social Activities:

    • For more than 4 decades organise ‘Diwali with Adiwasi’ to celebrate the festival of diwali with Adivasi people in Mokhada Taluka, Dist. Thane.
    • Adopted 450 starving children in Mokhada Taluka, and provided them complete Health Services (medicine & nutritious food) till they are grown healthy.
    • Provided permanent High pressure Gas Stoves and Cylinders to 110 “Aanganwadis” in Mokhada District, which helped to stop the usage of burning woods for cooking food items like Khichadi in Anganwadi. It helped to save the tree cuttings, protected the environment, it stopped the smoke in Anganwadi and secured pollution free premises.
    • Provided food, grains, and clothes to Adivasi communities in the area of Toranmal, Nandurbar, Tryambakeshwar, Igatpuri, Peth, Surgana in Nashik District.
    • Provided immediate financial aid in Guhagar to Vengurla belt to the families affected by FAYAN Storm – Most of the beneficiaries were Muslims.
    • Provided immediate help to 26th July 2005 FLOOD affected MTNL families in different areas.
    • Arranging programme for more than 30 years to felicitate and guide the children of MTNL Staff those who secured more than 80 % marks in SSC Examination. Guidance was arranged from High profile personalities in different fields of the society.
    • Offered helping hand pan India during Corona Pandemic

    Glimpse over the Journey:

    • 1966 –   Started working as Shivsainik (Shivsena party volunteer) while studying in standard 9.
    • 1968 –   Appointed as Shivsena Gat Pramukh. Rendered Services in Election Duties and Participated in various agitations organized by Shivsena
    • 1969 –   Whole heartedly participated in Maharashtra – Karnataka Border agitation. (Seema Andolan). 
    • 1977 –   During the rise of Janata Party, many party workers left Shivsena. Remained active in the party with deep faith on Shivsenapramukh.
    • 1984 –   Formation of Sthaniya Lokadhikar Samiti (SLS) in MTNL. Staked own service and participated in SLS agitation and compelled MTNL Management to select 350 local candidates (Bhoomi Putra) as Junior Engineer.
    • 1985 –   Valuable participation in securing success in BMC Election in Sewri area
    • 1985 –   Entrusted as Shivsena Pandharpur Taluka Sampark Pramukh (Coordinator)
    • 1986 –   Entrusted as Sampark Pramukh (coordinator) for Pandharpur Loksabha constituency. 
    • 1988 –   Formed Union by name of “Mahanagar Telephone Nigam KAMGAR SANGH” in MTNL, more than 15000 thousand employees became the member of the Union. Since then secured victory in 5 consecutive Biannual elections for Majority Union.
    • 1988 –   Successfully participated in Propagandas Committee during the Shivsena National Conference held at Pune.
    • 1988 –   Appointment as General Secretary of ST Kamgar Sena formed in 1988 by Hon. Shivsenapramukh. He has travelled through S.T. in whole Maharashtra to form S.T.  Kamgar Sena in 30 districts of Maharashtra.
    • 1992-93 –   Appointed as Jalgaon Sampark Pramukh (coordinator) Worked hard to get 4 Assembly Seats elected.
    • 1994 –   With the inspiration of Shri. Uddhav ji, executed full flanged concrete work in organising Shivsena National conference held at Nashik. The style of work was adored by Hon. Shivsenapramukh and he was honoured with felicitation.
    • 1995 –   Appointed as North Maharashtra Sampark Pramukh (coordinator) then Shivsena.
      Won Municipal Corporation election first time in Dhule, and also Won Assembly seat of Sindkheda first time.   During the tenure as Sampark Pramukh Shivsena’s five MLAS were elected first time in Nashik district.
    • 1996 –   Nominated as MLC by the Governor of Maharashtra on the recommendation received from “Balasaheb”.
    • 1996 –   With the grace of Shivsenapramukh appointed as Shivsena Deputy Leader.
    • 1996 –   Adjudged as the Best Orator in Maharashtra Legislative Council and conferred the award of Commonwealth Parliamentary Board by the then Governor of Maharashtra Shri P.C. Alexander. Received appreciations from Vandaniya Hinduhridaysamrat Shivsenapramukh Balasaheb Thackeray. The foundation of oratory was laid in childhood while studying in Dr. Shirodkar High School – Oratory competition.  Inspired with the speeches of Shivsenapramukh.
    • 1998 –   Executed a good Wage agreement for State Transport Workers during my General Secretary tenure.
    • 2001 –   First term of MLC completed. Continued endless party work.
    • 2004 –   Nominated as MLC second time. Opportunity to execute best experience in the Legislative Council.  
    • 2005 –   Entrusted responsibility of Pune & Nagar districts. Won Municipal Corporation Election.
    • 2005 –   Vijaya Wad – President Marathi Vishwakosh Nirmiti Mandal dedicated her own written book named “Gujgoshti”.
    • 2007 –   Pune Municipal Corporation election. (Mumbai BMC Election also slated at the same time). Political Analyzers forecasted limited success maximum up to 10 Councilors. Despite absence of senior leaders, 21 Councilors got elected.  With the consent & guidance of Shri. Uddhav ji, Pune Pattern was established, due to which Deputy Mayor, Chairman of Standing Committee posts came to Shivsena.
    • 2008 –   First time in the history of Pune Municipal Corporation, succeeded to get elected Nominated Member Dr. Pooja Yadav.
    • 2009 –   In addition to Pune, Nagar, entrusted with Nashik district responsibility. Maintained status Quo position in Assembly election.  Due to hard work and good coordination, 2 member of parliaments got elected instead of earlier strength of 1 number. First time Member of Parliament was elected in Nagar district during the tenure 
    • 2010 –   Again entrusted with Nashik Sampark Pramukh (coordinator) responsibility.
    • 2011 –   Entrusted with Nanded, Hingoli Sampark Pramukh (coordinator)  Succeeded in getting elected 3 Councilors in Hingoli by-election Full flanged participation in Kalyan Dombivli Muncipal Council Election. Successful in securing Shivsena party in power. 
    • 2012 –   Entrusted with full responsibility of Nashik Municipal Corporation election and carried out successfully.
    • 2014 –   Elected as Member of Parliament in May 2014 from Mumbai South Loksabha constituency.
    • 2019 –   Re-Elected as Member of Parliament in from Mumbai South Loksabha constituency.
    • 2019 –   Union Minister of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises, Government of India
    • 2019 –   November : Resigned from Minister position
    • 2021 –   Appointed as Bharatiya Kamgar Sena President
    • 2022 – August, Appointed as Shivsena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) Leader position
    • 2024 – Re-Elected as Member of Parliament in from Mumbai South Loksabha constituency.
